Suddenly the Summer was over...

Coming out of lockdown gave us the opportunity to have some sort of a Summer, despite all the restrictions. Of course I have been spending a lot of time caring for my Dad, but have still managed to get out and about a bit.

Being members of the National Trust means we don't have to travel too far for a decent
day out. We enjoy Beningbrough Hall and gardens very much, even on a rainy day.

Nunnington Hall is another nearby place we like to visit, even though
on this visit the Hall itself was off limits. Made a friend in the tea garden.

It was another grey and damp day so we made a return visit on a much sunnier day.

As I was recovering from having been rather ill, I left the
energetic stuff to my wife and granddaughter.

Another place we often visit, because it is only such a short drive away, is Sutton Park.

The gardens give plenty of opportunity for great photos.

When the weather was good we managed to get  my Dad out. This
was another trip to Beningbrough and the flowers were spectacular.

We're also 'Friends' of Castle Howard and have made a few trips there
over the Summer, this time with the three eldest grandkids.

In September my Harley needed a new tyre. So, I rode across to Leeds Harley Davidson.
Always a good opportunity to check out their stock.

This one is the 'Livewire'. All electric and with a price tag of around £35,000!

We fitted in another trip to Castle Howard, minus grandkids.

I was pleased with the light refraction in these two photos of the fountain.

Bright colours are not necessary for beautiful pictures.

We went into the house this time too.

The detail on this model of an ancient lighthouse is amazing.

Another place we love is the Walled Garden at Helmsley.

I took a load of photos of the vegetable patches to send to my
daughter so she could pinch some ideas for her allotment.

Although it was late Summer many of the flowers were still stunning.

And the insects were busy.

I also managed a couple of morning rides to Helmsley.

We discovered this rainbow tapestry of knitted panels, a tribute to the NHS,
closer to home in Rowntree's Park.

And of course, we've walked with the dogs a lot.

October was an eventful month. My father had his 97th Birthday.

My daughter, who is a fashion journalist, university lecturer on sustainable
fashion and design, and popular blogger, found the perfect contrast to her
coat just across the road from my Dad's house.

I think something else happened. Now what was it?

Oh yes! I was ordained to the Priesthood by the Bishop of Selby
in St Mary's church, Haxby.

Despite the restrictions it was a very special and Holy occasion.
